The land of the great Maratha warrior Shivaji Maharaj, who once fought bravely against the mighty Mughal Empire. The valor of my son Shivaji continues to echo in the strong royal forts nestled inside me. Forts in Maharashtra were built during the times when India was under the foreign rule of the Mughals. Shivaji Maharaj brought the technique of guerilla warfare, and personally designed many of my forts.
Today, after centuries forts of Maharashtra have stood the test of time and weather, they stood the torrential rains, they stood blaze, and they stood dryness of weather along with the blood of enemies and the warriors likewise.
I am proud of my famous Maharashtra forts. In the list of forts in Maharashtra many forts are captured by Shivaji Maharaj. Some of these forts are Devagiri, Raigarh, Murud Janjira, Sindhudurg and Vijayadurg. Each year millions of tourists visit my strong forts to witness the visual evidences of victories and history, not by Shivaji alone but, those of the foreign rulers as well. Many of Maharashtra forts are build by Shivaji Maharaj to strengthen the kingdom of Maharashtra.

The forts in Maharashtra present are not built entirely on land but also along the shores, thus making it difficult and challenging to set up canons or for conquering. The canons are still intact, rusting, and resting here. Not only did the Europeans failed to capture the amphibious fort, but so did Shivaji Maharaj after several attempts making it a rare one.
One of the best fort in Maharashtra is Raigad Fort, which is served as the capital of Shivaji Maharaj’s Kingdom. It is one of the famous forts in Maharashtra and is the hill fort where he was crowned as a boy and died as a legend.
